From February 7 to 9, 2025, the Llum BCN Festival will illuminate Poblenou with a spectacular display of art, technology, and light. This year, the Mirador Torre Glòries joins the event with Anna Rierola’s installation, OKEANÓS, a piece that connects science and art to unveil the mysteries of the ocean from a unique perspective.
OKEANÓS: A portal to the ocean from the city
Inspired by the Greek titan who symbolizes the ocean, OKEANÓS transforms Torre Glòries into a living geyser of light and color. Using satellite data from NASA and ESA, this artwork reveals the secrets of the planet’s seas and oceans, from phytoplankton concentration to ecosystem health.
Diving into this experience means exploring the Arctic waters, crossing Pacific currents, and discovering the biodiversity of the Southern Ocean. All this in an installation celebrating the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science (2021–2030) and emphasizing the importance of preserving marine ecosystems.
